Running Rain Kills Two Japanese citizens

TOKYO - Heavy rains that hit the Southern District of Japan today, leaving two people dead and another missing. While the Japanese meteorological agency warned of the possibility of landslides and heavy rain that will keep coming.
Heavy rains from the hurricanes that includes super Megi, attacked the island of Amami since Monday, October 18 evening local time. Two of the victims who died from this disaster is women who live in nursing homes.
While on the island of Oshima, causing landslides destroyed homes hit by a wash of mud mixed with stones. A 88-year-old woman lost in this incident, while a man was reported injured.
The rain also caused the river overflow and trap a nursing home causing approximately 100 residents and workers, forced to take refuge in the building.
"The air is damp due to Typhoon Megi causing increased rainfall in the southern region of Japan," said a Japanese weather officials quoted by AFP on Thursday (10/21/2010).
While local governments have issued evacuation orders to more than 2,100 residents, especially after landslides and flooding that has caused the interruption of electricity supply, telephone and main streets such area.
