HRRCA received funding from various parties, including the MacArthur Foundation, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Canadian International Development Agency, and the Embassy of Switzerland to Indonesia.
HRRCA have offices at the University of Indonesia, which provides support for information technology infrastructure, library and data center access, and various other activities.
HRRCA aims to complement and support the work of the Intergovernmental Commission for an ASEAN Human Rights (AICHR) and focus on research, capacity building, training, and education HAM.Marzuki Darusman appointed as Director or Chairman HRRCA.
Rafendi Djamin which is the Representative of Indonesia to AICHR strongly supports the establishment HRRCA. Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) also signed a Memorandum of Understanding as an Institutional Affiliate HRRCA.
